Kurismasu Omedetogozaimasu !
AGAIN! Am i really trying to kill myself here, cos i'm really not having enough sleep! Arrgh! But thankfully the holidays are here, and boy am i going to take this opportunity to 'pig-ify' myself.
Last Sunday we went out to celebrate Portia's birthday. Was okay to say the least, but i had to leave early cos i had a BBQ at wong's. I had awesome fun at the BBQ. The food was good, and i got to know the rest of the guys better. We played table tennis and drank as well. Overall quite fun.
The week after that went by fairly quickly. For the first time last Wednesday, i went to Zouk! Went with army buddies. At the club, they had mambo music on, and i never thought i'd actually enjoy such music. Well, it was loud and smoky, but the atmosphere was breathtaking! (excuse the pun). Well, i had fun to say the least. And the whole place was packed! So okay, i didn't stay as long as my friends did (they stayed til 4am plus). I left close to 2. At first because i only had 3 hours of sleep the night before (talking on phone to dwong), plus having drank a bit too much (we played those drinking games), i finally gave up and cabbed home. Well, i could walk straight, and i was still sane (whew). It's just the crazy thumping in my brain, and i really needed some rest. So yeah. Many thanks to my friend edward for being very caring and taking care of me in my sorry state (heh).
The following day i was on duty in camp. It was long and boring, and i fought hard with my eyelids not to fall asleep. Rented 5 VCDs from VideoEzy; watched 3 in the afternoon alone, 2 of which are arty farty ones, 'Not One Less' and 'Japanese Story'. I enjoyed them both entirely. The third one i saw was 'The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy', which i must comment is a really lame and funny British humor kind of movie. Get what i mean? It's really creative though. I mean, who would've thought of such an ingenius plot! And i love the music in the film. The cutest song IMO was the one sung by the dolphins, 'Farewell and thanks for all the fish'. It was hilarious! Okay, two more yet to be seen, 'The Pacifier' and 'Ned Kelly'.
Ended duty today (friday) and the rest of the day in camp passed by fairly quickly. Today our nicest officer was on leave, but he came all the way back to camp with a chicken he cooked by himself! It was supposed to be turkey, but it was too big for the few of us anyway, so we stuck with chicken. Well, it was pretty good and tasty, with stuffing and gravy and all. Then after a while, i don't know how the convo changed to the topic of Christianity. Well, i'll be honest (since this is my blog), but i won't mention any names (for fear of being sued). I am a Christian. I am proud to be a Christian. I love being a Christian. I love God. And i can't stand people who are hypocrites. Some people claim to know a lot about Christianity just cuz they're related to someone who is one, but then says out all the bad stuff about it, and worse still, influence others to see down upon it as well. And IN FRONT OF ME. Don't get me wrong, you're a nice guy, and you're definately the nicest officer around. But there is a limit to what i can take. I mean, in front of me, you were talking about how Christianity is the only religion that is not worshipping idols, and then you say that's what you hate about it. I don't understand, but for me, i refuse to bow down to anything from the work of my own hands. And then you carry on saying that we are the only ones who passionately evangelise to the public. Well, fine, i can't influence or force you to not feel annoyed at street evangelisers. Thinking about it, our world is so commercialised that even if something good came our way in the form of street activity, i too would be annoyed. What i'm saying is that, i will not force you to believe in my God, or even condemn you for any of your actions that i stand against, but i am more than willing to tell you more about my God, if you want to know more. And for goodness' sake, don't insult my God in front of me, cos my face don't wanna hear it.
I'd been away from home so often, i actually haven't seen my family for couple of days! Our family Christmas dinner (it's our family tradition) was a day earlier this year. It was today! Which means i got my pressies early too! Well, nothing big and spectecular like last year (got a Zen Micro), but somehow, this year was better. Better in the sense that the gifts, though not big or expensive, was from the heart. Well, my brother andrew gave me a Switchfoot CD, something i'd been wanting for so long now. And that really made my day. I can finally strike it off my material wishlist. See, i rarely receive gifts from my own family, so i guess this is really special to me. Thanks andrew!
Oh yah! One last thing before i log off. Heh. Was quite funny that on our way to my uncle's place for dinner, we were talking about a crustacean platter from cold's storage. We somehow got carried away and the crustacean platter became a Castration platter!! EEeeewwWW! Grosss!!! But haha, hope that made you smile :)
