Long week...
(loud sigh)
Been trying to update more often these days, but it seems that wasn't possible. Don't think i'm allowed to update my blog from camp anymore because i think they blocked blogger from our internet. Bah, what crap. They already blocked friendster. Bummer...
Anyway, the past 2 weeks have been by far one of the most stressful ever! I'd been pressured to complete my office projects by my superiors who are oh-so-demanding, and at the same time having to deal with issues with certain 'difficult' people, and also studies, as well as wasting time learning how to drive. Okay seriously, my current driving instructor is really crap. He's deliberately taking his time to teach me new driving skills, like parking or going uphill and all. Worse part is that it brings me no benefit if i complained. Firstly, he's a private instructor, so complain to who? And secondly even if i went for a different one, the same problem might re-occur, and have to pay some silly termination fee.
Which reminds me of the discussion i had with my discussion group in Sociology class. We were asked to discuss about Multiculturalism and Sovereignty of State, and we realised that we seldom have major conflicts about racism here (that involve killing), due to the people either being afraid of the government, or that they see no point in making it into an issue as it would bring them no benefit.
And it's the same for me. I'm slowly taking the approach where i shouldn't be so bothered by things around me or get overly worked-up by them. Is it a good thing or not? I don't know. But what i do know is that it'll save me from a lot of stress that i'm already going through.
Today isn't such a bad day though. The day went by relatively quickly, though it was still mainly rather boring. Went out with my encik plus my officer for lunch at Bukit Timah Market. The officer treated us to pretty good pasta. Headed back to camp where again we left for Marina City Park, as there was to be a healthy lifestyle run there. Got there and wasted more time hanging around aimlessly with the guys before it was declared 'Cat 1', or weather unsafe for outdoor activity. Well, the time spent with the guys wasn't aimless lah. We were playing with the ants and spiders we caught. First we got a tiny spider and we tried to make it fight a red ant. That didn't work as they kept running away. Then later on we found a big spider, the size of a 20 cent coin, and we out it together with the tiny spider in a styrofoam cup. When we opened the cup, we saw that the big spider had the little one in it's mouth! It was... shocking! Haha...
At least some action for the boring afternoon huh?...
Later on went to Carl's Jr at Marina Square with the guys. I finally got to try the sourdough bacon cheeseburger, and it was dee-licious! Also think we saw Olinda Cho while we were there. Heh, but it was a little far to see lah.
So let's see, i've met 2 of out Sg Idol contestants already! First was Daphne Khoo who boarded my bus, service 61, at the Ngee Ann bus stop (read previous posts in my archives). Fascinating hey!
Dinner was great. Was a little full but i ate some more anyway. Went out with family to Hotel Rendevous to celebrate my dad's birthday. Ate at some BBQ restaurant. Food was really just ordinary only, nothing fantastic, but the fellowship was just great! I had a great time.
Got home, practiced my guitar. Been a long time since i touched it. Been all too busy for all this knick-knacks nowadays. How i wished i had the time to do all these stuff. I've always wanted to learn a new language or re-pick my chinese, or learn an instrument or whatever! But alas, no time. Hopefully someday i can, maybe when i go to Australia for uni? Yup, hope to be able to do more sports as well. Been a little more health conscious these days too, so i guess that's a good sign? Yepp...
So that's all for today. Quite a handful, but if you had read all the way from the top to here, then give yourself a pat on the back and sign my guestbook! :D
Well, logging off now. God bless my readers....

Drank 2 cans of Nescafe coffee last night, and burnt midnight oil til close to 5am. Stupid lah, is it worth it? Anyway, they've been handed up so i don't wanna think about it anymore.

kids...
Last Friday was a super stressful day for me at camp. Was very pressured to get work done. Unfortunately for me that day, i was the only one in office. The other two fellas, one was on leave, the other as usual, has some stupid lame reason not to be in camp. Couldn't play badminton that day, so was a little sad, since i now found a new passion in the sport. Wasn't all that bad though, managed to leave camp shortly after 5pm, and went to Cafe Cartel with family.
At 8pm, i met up with my old Mass Comm friends! It was to be Serene's birthday party so Ming invited me. It was great seeing all of them again. I had missed the good ol days we had together. Had a great meal at Clarke Quay. Strolled along the river a while but didn't go anywhere for a drink or anything. Got home just after 12.
Had duty on Saturday. Enjoyed it much better than last tuesday's with that monster of an officer. Honestly, it may burn off one day of the weekend, but it feels so much better than a weekday duty. It's more relaxing (i practically slept most of the afternoon), and there's really not much (if any) work to be done. I like. Plus the officer on Saturday was nice, so time went by extremely quickly. Before i knew it, it was Sunday!
Rushed home right after duty only to rush off again for classes at Cityhall. Got there on time (surprisingly) and battled through the 3 hours of lecture trying to get a better understanding of the topic. This new lecturer's from India, and his accent is super strong. I can hardly get what he's saying. And he speaks real fast too. Kinda wished i had the old lecturer back, cause even if all he did was read from the textbook, at least i knew at the end of the day, where in the textbook i can read.
But anyway, headed down to church after classes and had lunch with the bunch. Went back to church after that and spent a good couple of hours studying. Also had a good conversation trying to understand Kevin Mong better. Hope he's alrite after that crazy conversation, but he actually really is a nice fella lah. Don't understand why he seems to be proud about the bad and naughty things he'd done. Don't worry brother, i will pray for u, and for your O levels too.
Also please pray for Sam Jr. If i'm not wrong he'll be starting work at a different place. It's in God's hands, so don't worry so much about it. I'm sure you'll do well :)
Helped out at our church's Mid-Autumn Harvest. Started off by serving drinks to the oldies from St John's eldercare just across the street. They're really nice people. Very sweet and full of smiles. Was also the rice scooper at the buffet area. Haha i had fun. When my job there was done, i headed to the children's area where i 'became a kid again'.
Well basically, apart from being a mentor to these kids, i ended up learning a lot from them. Well basically with kids, they can be the most nicest cutest sweetest things on the planet, whereas with others, they can be little menaces, very rude and all. But i discovered that it's those who are rude and disrespectful who just need a little more care, love and patience. That's all. There was this little fella in yellow (and a bit of blue) who was rather annoying and rude, but i just played along and after a while, he started being a little nicer. Then there was this particular little one. Wahh, so CUTE. Kept coming to me to shake my hand and laugh profusely after that. He had very big eyes and he's really very small. His elder brother also a nice little guy, said the sinner's prayer for the first time! Praise God! He says his grandparents bring him to church, our church apparently, so i hope to see them both around sometime. So adorable lah kids.
Remember i once said that i hated kids? ERASE that OFF your minds. I must have been possessed to say such a horrid thing like that to such young an innocent little ones. I now know how it feels like when you are patient with them, that they can be such cute little bundles of love.
And just like out Lord Jesus said, to let the little children come unto me, for the kingdom belongs to such as these.
Wonderful bundles of joy they are...
Also got to know some of the YFers better, like Xinyu, Gloria, Kevin Mong and Shimin. All very nice people. Oh yah, i know Michelle was a very talented stage performer, but i didn't know that Rachel could act so well too! And her spoken Mandarin is so smooooth! Those two look very good together on stage Haha... I hope to inspire them to do more of this to develop their potential ya? But genuinely from my heart, it was a very meaningful skit. Well done girls!
So yup, that sums up my day in a few paragraphs. The Lord please bless the week to come.

Whole World In His Hands
Today's been a tiring day. Lots of pressure to get work done. Who would've guessed it could get this stressful? And yeah, got to know some of the other fellas around camp better too.
Went to class a little late due to heavy traffice, but overall the lesson had been fruitful. Guess who i saw at City Link Mall after class?? WESLEY!! Haha, he was on his way home is it? Yah so bumped into em. Second time leh! First time was at the Army Half Marathon where i saw him near the 21km finish line. Lol he looked 'shagged' hahaha....
That's about all for today. I know a lot more happened but when it comes to blogging it down, i suddenly forget everything. Guess i am that tired huh??
Haha, but overall, i'm still learning to find the joy and peace that comes hidden with all these trials. Was listening recently to this song by Tim Hughes. Can't quite remember the title of the song, but the chorus goes:
He's got the whole world in His hands (x2)
I'll fear no evil, for You are with me
Strong to deliver
Mighty to save
He's got the whole world in His hands
Beautiful song...
Maybe we'll sing it in YF some time?... as long as DWONG or MITCHELL don't use up my 1-new-song-per-band-every-3-months quota WAHAHAHA.... ;)
Anyway, it's getting late and i'm tired, so goodnites ppls!! God bless ya..

STRESS
These past 2 days had been TERRIBLE! I feel so
les miserables...
First of all, i meant to blog about this much sooner, just that my office computer was testing my patience and made me rewrite my entire post after completing it about 3 times. Did i finally lose it? Well no, i just put it aside. Wouldn't be so stupid as to scold a silly piece of scrap metal would i? heh heh heh...
Anyway, he ain't the enemy. I had camp duty last night, and the officer i did it with is a !@#$ ^&*! @# ^&*$% .... he's the enemy. Well, ok lah, he's just bossy alrite? And i hate being bossed around unreasonably. Not about to regurgitate all that happened that night, but just so you know, i slept very little.
Also stressed with other work. Pls pray for me ok?

Update...
What could it have meant when other groups stare at your group with the weirdest look in their eyes? A look of anger and intimidation, as if we were a threat. Or maybe it could mean the opposite. I remembered our worship band left off with one message to tell, "They'll know that we are Christians by our love". Could they then be staring at us because we are different? Maybe at the lift lobby when she stared at us she had a question to ask us? Some answers, i may never know, but one thing's for sure, we were very focused on our very purpose to be at PTL, which was to praise God as one body.
I guess now i understand the phrase, "In brokenness, complete", means. Well, i remembered from previous event, AIR, that i felt rather "incomplete", that there were so many things that didn't quite go as i had planned. That was when i finally allowed God to take over, and look what He's done for us. Our band for PTL was very focused, and we came to worship. So thank God for that! He's an awesome God!
Hmmm, last friday was the very firt time after almost 9 months in the army, that i actually ran with Wong on the weekly camp runs. I mean, hey, only after 9 months did we actually run together! Haha okay i thought it was weird la, that only after so long did this happen.
Sunday saw me sleeeping less than 4 hours. I woke up around 4 plus in the morning to get to the padang for the AHM. Had to leave halfway cos i had classes, of which was very helpful for the new chapter we're studying. Only me and one other female classmate turned up for class that day, so the classroom was very cold. Had a very fruitful lesson, but it ended bout half an hour late. Rushed down to church for ministry meetings, followed by lunch, and then studied till 6pm, before heading down to Aunty Mary's for Alison's farewell BBQ. Had great fun.
Got camp duty today. Boring...

Don't Drink
So much to say, but i don't know where to start...
Let's see, the past couple of days in camp had been relaxing, mainly because our officers were occupied with stuff, be it work, or their own "personal admin". But anywho, better all the same for me.
As usual, played badminton with my usual kakis yesterday. Don't know why, but there seems to be visible improvement for my friends, but not me. There are still certain things that i have yet to master. Guess i'm a slow learner? But at least i'm still having fun at the same time, so that's all that matters. Think i have to work on my stamina.
After our game, we left camp around 6 plus, met more of our bunch at clementi MRT and Marina Square, and we ate at Carl's Jr, some American fast food chain that's new in town. I had a SuperStar burger, and like all the other burgers, they're HUGE! Seriously, they're about a quarter bigger than BK's burgers, so you could imagine how full we were after the meal with fries and free flow soft drinks. Was around 9 before the group seperated, cept for me and 2 other guys. We went to this place called EskiBar!
Now i know some of my younger churchies read my blog, and they must be thinking that i'm a drinker or wild animal of some sort, but let me assure that i'm of age (19), and secondly, this is for social purposes only. And i'm very well aware of Eph 5:18 (go look it up yourself). So anyway, 3 of us went to this place called EskiBar, and cause really this is my first time doing this sorta thing, i was very impressed with this place. The whole bar was like a James Bond scene, ice everywhere, and people wearing thick winter jackets. We sat at the Cold Room, and it was minus 5 degrees. They provided thick and comfortable winter jackets, of course, and we had a few drinks. No kick though. But the atmosphere was fantastic. Even the bar table was made of a tall stack of ice! How very fascinating!
Got home around 12.
Moral of the story is, don't drink. It's bad. :D ok??

I need a Holiday...
Here i am, at an internet cafe on a Thursday evening, updating my blog. "Why isn't he in class, shouldn't he be having lessons now?" is what you might ask, and to that i will tell you that they have decided to close today (1 Sep) for
Teachers' Day.
"What the
Firetruck...?"
Excueeese me?? Like, Hello?? We're not talking about teachers here. We're at university level already you know? And we're talking professional lecturers, highly qualified professors and geeky brainiacs with 6-inch thick glasses here, not
teachers... This isn't preschool for pete's sake. And besides, why wasn't i informed? I'm totally taken aback and shocked that i should actually have to check the online portal for Teachers' Day, cuz at our level, THERE IS NO TEACHERS' DAY!!!
So let's see, you've wasted my time travelling all the way down here to find you closed, make me spend $1.50 to spend half an hour to check the online portal and end up feeling wasted if i didn't use up the whole half hour and so ended up blogging instead. I mean what is this man?!
Crushsmuckle.. i'm so.... urrghh!!!.....
Gosh, i'm a local and i'm mingling with all these backpackers here at the internet cafe, ...this is so GaGa... i feel like a tourist with my backpack fulla books which can pass to look like it was full of clothes... My dressing is kinda backpacker too...
damn i need a holiday that's what i need...
P.S. As you can tell from my language, my day hasn't exactly been very good. Please excuse my french.
